CCHS is proud to support both dogs and cats in need. Dogs have different needs and it takes the right fostering situation to provide an environment for a foster dog to thrive allowing them to shine. Our dog program is built on fostering, from puppies to senior dogs and unlike Kitty Corner, we rely on the kindness of a foster family or individual to open their home to dogs in need.
Sunday School
We partner with Contra Costa Animal Services (CCAS) for our Shelter Dog Sunday School program where we are having a positive impact on dogs awaiting adoption.
Though the shelter is closed to the public generally on Sundays, we are there! Join us at Sunday School getting shelter dogs out of kennels for walking, agility, obedience cues, grooming, decompression and socializing.Through this program, we learn a lot about the dogs to prepare them for successful adoption and assist in developing better profiles on each dog.

Special needs dogs and puppies
A dog‘s health does not exclude them from coming into our program. We are prepared to give both cats and dogs the medical attention they need to live long, healthy lives. Learn more about our Emergency & Special Needs Fund for these special situations.
